Babylonia perforata pieroangelai Cossignani, 2008

1. Corculum cardissa Linnaeus, 1758. FREAK 48.6 mm

Philippines. Oslob. 5 - 8 meters deep. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: This looks like a bird, a great freak in Corculum cardissa. Does not need much comments. Amazing in my humble opinion. Estimation: 20-40 EUR. (€77)

2. Conus canonicus TIGRINUS (G.B. Sowerby II, 1858). 51 mm

Philippines. Jolo Island. Sulu Sea. Circa 1980.

Remarks: An unusual form of the C. canonicus, figured by G. Raybaudi in Poppe, shown as textile var. tigrinus by Tryon (1884). The shell shown by Sowerby was later reshown by Da Motta with other such shaped and bizarre colored shells in La Conchiglia (1982). Ultra rare gold color, virtually no collection has this. Estimation: 150-250 EUR. A "Noble" Conus. (€255)

3. Vexillum leyteensis Poppe, Tagaro & Salisbury, 2009. 26.8 mm

Philippines. South of Cebu. Oslob. Tangle nets, 50-150 m deep. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: First time a specimen goes to the market from this deep water rarity. Dead collected, not yet known from live shells. Described from Leyte island, from where the name comes from, this is the first one from Cebu, also deep. Dream item for lovers of rarity and Costellariidae. Estimation: 40-100 EUR. (€105)

4. Typhinellus occlusus (Garrard, 1963). 32.1 mm

Philippines. Talikud Island near Davao. Tangle nets, 50-150 meters deep. 2010.

Remarks: Cream = 34.9 mm. Banded = 27.4 mm. This species has an irregular supply and often the shells are faked. This is a great set of three different colors: the bicolor type, the cream and the rare black form. All with genuine canal, very long and two of the three shells are big sizes. Breathtaking and the pride of any type of collection. Estimation: 250-350 EUR. (225)

5. Oliva amethystina Sowerby, 1825. ALBA 17.8 mm

Philippines. Olango Island. 10-25 m deep. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: The very rare ALBINO in O. amethystina, always small. We got 6 in 7 years, this is porcelain white and slightly shouldered. One specimen in auction last year reached 40 EUR, a soft price for this rarity missing in most collections, even advanced ones. Estimation: 30-60 EUR. (€52)

6. Dissona dolabra (Cate, 1974). 13.4 mm

Philippines. Aliguay Island. Tangle nets, 80-180 meters deep. 2010.

Remarks: Another first specimen we could offer in the market: Dissona dolabra from deep water, animal dried in, light orange color. Extremely rare, absent in most collections. Estimation: 100-150 EUR. (€105)

7. Mimachlamys sanguinea (Linnaeus, 1758). SPECIAL COLOR 70 mm

Philippines. Olango Island. Found at 10-25 meters deep water. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: This is a fun specimen with two white "ears" and a purple body. Probably unique. Estimation: 25-50 EUR. (€40)

8. Tibia fusus fusus (Linnaeus, 1758). FREAK 244 mm

Philippines. Bohol. 10-35 m deep. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: Amazing Tibia fusus of good size in which the siphonal canal splits into 3. While we have seen at several occasions siphonal canals splitting into two, we never saw a split into three, so this is a great rarity and curiosity which is possibly unique. Estimation: 75-150 EUR. (€145)

9. Dolomena hickeyi (Willan, 2000). BROWN 43.8 mm

Philippines. Negros. Found at 5-10 meters deep. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: Brown = 45.9 mm. The darkest D. hickeyi we could offer so far. A dream shell in any Strombus collection. Comes with a normal colored specimen as shown in the upper right corner. Virtually absent from collections. Estimation: 40-75 EUR. (€195)

10. Cypraea tigris Linnaeus, 1758. SPECIAL COLOR 75.3 mm

Philippines. Zamboanga. Found at 10-25 meters deep water. Collected by local fishermen on the offshore islands. 2009.

Remarks: White spot = 74 mm. Black spot: 75.3 mm. This is a set one can only imagine in the wildest dreams: two tigers of quite similar coloration, one with a white streak on the side, one with a black streak on the side. One can do several lifetimes before getting this. Estimation: 100-250 EUR. (€75)

11. Conus ebraeus Linnaeus, 1758. 37.3 mm

Philippines. Olango Island. 10 - 25 meters deep. Collected by local fishermen. 2010.

Remarks: Upper Left: 24.1 mm. Right: 27.7 mm. Lower Left: 31.9 mm. Right: 32.1 mm. The five best out of hundreds. Look at the colors and keep on staring. Solid black bands, pinks, axials, spirals and dots. It's all there. Estimation: 40-100 EUR. (€54)

12. Conus dolium PETERGABRIELI Lorenz, 2006. 37.8 mm

Philippines. Palawan. Balabac Island. Collected 20-25 meters deep by fishermen of Olango Island. 2010.

Remarks: The broad shaped PETERGABRIELI is often not so nice. This one is however a materpiece in aesthetics: large, voluminous and chocolate with porcellanous white. This shell is out of competition and leaves the second best ones known far behind. Estimation: 200-350 EUR. (€150)
